I completed a 10-week Social Media Marketing Internship at SLG Brands, where I worked across a variety of beauty and grooming brands including Johnny’s Chop Shop, COLAB, and Velvotan. This fast-paced, creative environment gave me the chance to develop real-world marketing skills, take ownership of projects, and present my ideas directly to the wider Marketing and Sales teams.
WHAT I DID:
- Delivered a competitive research project on male grooming brands in the U.S., analysing social presence, retail availability, and - marketing strategies. Presented findings to the team and offered brand-aligned recommendations for Johnny’s Chop Shop
- Developed a commenting strategy for COLAB dry shampoo, including tone of voice guidelines, a brand persona, and community engagement tactics. This strategy was successfully implemented and maintained on TikTok
- Supported Instagram content scheduling for COLAB and Velvotan
- Participated in weekly trend meetings, offering ideas based on social listening and competitor analysis
- Contributed to a UGC research project, writing a brief to support future content creation
- Scheduled and managed Snapchat content
- Assisted in TikTok content filming for Velvotan’s launch on TikTok Shop
- Conducted community engagement, interacting with followers and building brand presence across platforms
- Provided research support for an upcoming LA content trip
- Gained an introduction to media buying, expanding my knowledge of paid advertising in social media
